Velez is making his first Championship start in 2026. In 2025, he won six World Amateur Golf Ranking events in Colombia and finished fourth in the South American Under-15 Championship in Colombia and fifth in the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay. He also competed in the U.S. Junior Amateur and represented his country in the Eisenhower Trophy in Singapore.
