Alvarez is making his second Championship start and is looking to become the first player representing Honduras to make the cut in the Latin America Amateur. In 2024, he had two top-five finishes in World Amateur Golf Ranking events and finished T-29 in the Central America Championship in Honduras. In July 2023, he won an event in Honduras to earn his first world ranking points.
