Villegas is making his first Championship start. In 2024, he had six top-10 finishes in World Amateur Golf Ranking events and also finished T-18 in the South American Under-15 Championship in Brazil. In 2021, he won the Boys 10-11 division of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship in Florida. Other notable winners of the youngest boys division over the years include Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.
